WARNING... VERY GEEKY NERDY CONTENT FOLLOWS... FEEL FREE TO SKIM AND/OR JUST LOOK AT THE PICTURES... DON'T WORRY I WON'T BE OFFENDED

so, i just completed a diy 30" x 20" mp3 jukebox, internet radio, and speaker system in one wall mounted piece of glory. it's in our bathroom so we can have music when we do our personal hygiene. sorry about the blurry close up... cell phone camera's stink. oh and a few notes on the "construction."
all of the parts were things i had lying around the house except for a reverse headphone splitter which i got at radio shack for 6 bucks(i know its a ripoff, but i didn't feel like waiting till monday and driving into hollywood to go to ametron and saving like $3) as for the parts used:

  • rio karma 20 gb mp3 player... i bought it back when the first generation ipod had just come out
  • dell axim x50 pocket pc with a san disk compact flash wifi adapter running gs player to play shoutcast stations
  • dell branded altec lansing 3 piece speaker system...(the subwoofer is under the sink... okay i cheated on the all in one part, but come on, the thing is as big as a toaster)
  • pegboard
  • lots of zip-ties
  • some solder and heatshrink tubing
  • 1 cube tap and 1 ground lifter for the power end of things
  • all in all about 3 hours or so of construction time... most of that was tediously zip tying everything down to the board
  • i broke the chair i just fixed and just about destroyed the whole thing while in the final stages
oh and if you have any ideas on how to "beautify" it or even "splash proof" it, let me know... and yes i thought of plexiglass(getting to the controls would be an issue with one sheet of plexi, i guess i could cut out spots for the controls, but the "internet radio" component is touch screen and a recessed touch screen is kind of hard to use)
